Imagine this…. It’s 3 a.m. you haven’t slept more than 3-4 hours in the past six weeks and still you wake up in the morning and you have to deal with both physical and mental stress because your body is littered with bed bug bites.
This is the reality that at least two tenants of Towers East in Pawtucket Rhode Island, John Sullivan and Linda Bouvier. A video posted by NBC 10 of Rhode Island depicts the horrific stories of these two tenants and their apartments.
The physical and emotional stress that both Sullivan and Bouvier are dealing with is telling. “You’ll notice I have bags under my eyes because I’ve only been getting a couple of hours of sleep a night,” said the 78 year old Sullivan. Furthermore he pointed out, “I’ve been more or less living in my car, we’ll put it that way.”
“It’s not my fault, I’m very clean, I don’t know. They told me my wheelchair is infested,” added Bouvier.
In apartment buildings, whether large or small, eradicating bed bugs becomes extremely difficult because it require cooperation from all of the tenants present in the building as well as the management company.
The worst part about it, is that even tenants who are very clean such as Linda Bouvier can become infested from other people in the building.
In New York City especially, the problem that is being experienced by these residents of Towers East is being experienced by hundreds of thousands of people on a daily basis.
The only way to effectively remove bed bugs from any type of apartment complex requires the education of the tenants about bed bugs and aggressive extermination tactics with the cooperation of all tenants present.
Hopefully, residents of apartment buildings all over the country can get rid of this vile pest and finally be able to sleep in peace!
